Alliance, Nebraska Irrigated Crop Land
There is a total of 334 acres of crop land of which 240 acres is irrigated by
one galvanized Zimmatic Pivot Irrigation System, with 7 towers, located on one
half section of land. There are two circles on the property. The system is
rotated each year to accommodate crop rotation. During the season, 2003, the
irrigation system was placed under corn on south circle. The north circle was
planted to dry land wheat and produced 45 bushel (an extremely dry year). The
corn crop has not yet been harvested but note the stand in the photos on the right.
Owner estimates the yield to be approximately 130 bushel of corn per acre for the
year 2003. Five of the corners or approximately 50 acres have been put into a tree
conservation program that pays $40.00 per acre per year from the U.S. Department
of Agriculture.
The only irrigation well is located in the center of the north circle. It is connected
to the irrigation system via a buried underground pipeline to the center of the
south circle. The depth of the irrigation well is 385 feet and the diameter of the hole is
28 inches. The static water level varies but is around 57 feet. The irrigation pump was
overhauled in 1998 and all bowels and all bearings were replaced by Rasmussen Irrigation
Service, Alliance, Nebraska for a cost of $7,353.19. There is also a water well and windmill
located between the two circles. The property has very good access.
